Is it legal for a neighbor to videotape children outside?

My neighbor watches for vandalism, stealing cars, etc. around our building and tries to catch the culprit on tape. I found out he taped some kids breaking something outside. He reported the incident to the manager. The kids next door and possibly my children are on the tape. The other kids mom said she will be viewing it today. We called the police but they said it is legal because it’s on public property and not looking up skirts or something. I feel it is wrong in this day and age to tape children without consent unless of course the crime is very serious. He certainly didn’t catch the person who tagged my car with graffiti a couple of weeks ago. Catching a true criminal is one thing but taping children playing outside is scary!
Many good answers here, ty. I understand that videotaping is legal in public regardless if it’s children and I would not be upset (except at the kids), if it was my kids caught on surveillence doing something wrong. Thankfully I do have good kids who have not been in trouble. My biggest concern was just the possibility of negative intent for the video. I am ok with surveillence. I realize now how frequently a person is taped without knowledge and I can only hope whoever is recording is only doing so with good intentions.

What would our kids look like?
So this is just a fun little game because I’m bored.

I’m 5′1″. Naturally Dark brown hair/tan skin/dark eyes/indian and middle eastern descent

he’s 5′10″/lightt blonde hair/blue eyes/light skin/irish descent

I’ve always said even if we don’t end up together in the end we need to procreate for the sake of science because i’ve never seen such opposite traits have a kid :P
So yeah you can do any combination of traits you want to put together.

How do parents cope with leaving their kids in daycare all day?

I realize that most full time jobs are going to be from 8-5, 9-5 M-F. My baby is almost 3 months and Im ready to start going back to work. In order for me to bring home any income and pay for daycare, I will have to work full time. But I feel so bad to have to leave my baby in daycare for 9 to 10 hrs a day. How do parents cope with this?

Is the Bible a good tool to use to lightly teach children about morality, right and wrong and decision making?

I think it’s not a place tool to use, some of the parables and stories do make good points. When it’s taken as a source of information to use as education in a light manner, like perhaps read alongside Dr Suess, it does contain some very good tales to help kids along with helping others.

However, when it is taken too seriously, when kids are taught to ‘believe in it or else’, I feel then it is a very dangerous and unhealthy tool. When people start preaching it’s the actual word never to be questioned, it gets creepy, and kids begin to unravel and miss the educational points that it contains. Instead of learning from it in a healthy way, they instead develop an unhealthy obsession to preach it to others through fear and guilt trips.

Unhealthy:

“Believe in it or go to hell”…”You’re wrong, you need to repent for this book is the truth!’…

Healthy:

“hey, the moral of this bible story was that doing so will result in bad things, its a good parable to learn from”
