Parents of toddlers and preschoolers?

Are there any TV shows that are geared towards the 1-5 year olds that you refuse to let your children watch, and why?
Jobie, just to clarify, Dora speaks spanish, not french.
We don’t have cable in our house but one of the stations we get via rabbit ears airs children’s programming for 13 hours a day.

Ellen’s Acres-My daughter is a little young for it anyway, but any child who lives in a trailor park, has that wild of an imagination, and doesn’t have any friends outside of a feather duster and a tire needs some serious help.

In the Night Garden-Gives me In-The-Nightmares. Enough said.

The Wiggles-There is something not right about grown men who act that way. As a parent, it is kind of scary.

Numberjacks-While I see that numbers are meant to be education, I fail to see how numbers fighting slime bubbles is educational in the least.

Max and Ruby- Parentless children living alone is not something I need my daughter thinking is okay.

I generally will not allow her to watch anything that I feel doesn’t contain any educational value, or displays some “mental issues”, or just generally is not age appropriate.
Wow fiona, hard childhood much?

I was generally curious to see what other parents thought of the kids shows on television. I don’t need to justify anything in my parenting.

Why do some people say ”If God really loves us, then why are kids in Africa suffering?”?

We have to understand that God gave us free will. WE are the ones hurting each other. Then, He judges us according to how we choose to deal with the messes created by one another.

I just asked this question in a general sense because I see questions like that (here) often. What are your perspectives?

Thanks :) And God does not leave us hanging, He wants us to seek Him and he has a better place for us!
He does stop our suffering, later. It does not last forever. Also, it’s up to us now to walk by faith. He did what He had to do way back, and now its up to us to trust and believe. And when those of us do still have faith, there’s even more reason to be proud. Having faith in a world like this is hard, but worth it because it means everything to Him!
FREE WILL - We as Americans, and even other countries, have the power to FIX these issues and sometimes, make sure they dont even rise. However, when most of us see those ‘’starving children” commercials, what do we say? ”Awe…how sad” CLICK! Not all of us, but most of us. It is not the children who choose to suffer, it is the people who know better that let them continue to suffer.
When I refer to free will, I am saying WE have the free will to HELP but we do not. At least not like we can. Perhaps you should all review the question again and reconsider your answers so you don’t look foolish again.

thanks :)

Ok.so Shoe shopping is awful?

I am 26 years old and I wear a size 3 wide in Womens. I look at the shoes on like all the popular shoe stores and they start at usually size 5 or 6.

Where can I find shoes or a shoe store that will actually fit and not be Hello Kitty or Ninja Turtles…(Yes I owned both and the Ninja Turtle ones light up). Sad isn’t it?

I don’t want to have to spend over $50.00 a pair of shoes, honestly. Who has that kind of money? It’s just really annoying, does anyone else have the same problem as me?

I’ve been wearing kids shoes my whole life and it appears that unless I spend hundreds of dollars to have shoes custom made to my size then it’s too bad for me. I’ve tried Zappos.com and their selection just isn’t great at all for my size. Not many heels are over 3″ either.

It would be nice to own a pair of heels you know…with more than 2 inches. Or calf boots that have a heel on them. Any suggestions? The more selection in my size the better. Thanks!
Girls shoe sizes go from infants shoes to a size 4 and womens shoes start at size 5 is how it was explained to me.

Would it be super wrong for me to not allow my husband to join the army?

My husband wants to join the army and I dont want him to go. Would it be super wrong for me to not allow him to go?

Aside from the fact that I would miss him trendmendously (which i definatly would) we have two children. It would be a burden not to mention almost impossible for me to care for them on my own. I work full-time and I am a full-time student. I cant drop my classes or would lose thousands of dollars I already paid. I dont think I can manage taking one to school the other to daycare. I go to school in the evenings and I dont know who would care for them then. Is it selfish for me to tell him no?

He tells me that I cant go to medical school because of how time demanding it is and that i should have thought about being a doctor before i got married and had kids, that ship has sailed. i feel this is the same thing.

what do you guys think?
Maybe “allow” is not the right word. We said we were going to make the decision together. After considering i decided it is not the best thing and he thinks it is, so we cant come to a mutual understading. what i meant was, which one of us should budge?
i dont know how i am going to manage working full time, i also commute. my job is an hour and a half away. . .going to school. my daughter is in second grade but i dont know who will take care of her in the afternoon. my son is only two so he is in daycare but if my husband is not here he would have to be in daycare all day plus the evenning while i am in school. sure i could probably post my education but this semester already started and if i drop my classes i will lose out alteast 5 thousand dollars (i dont get financial aid) plus at the books i purchased and they are not cheap.
i cant quit my job becuase i am the breadwinner. i dont have other family to depend on. i just dont see it possible.
