Should mothers have to pay child support if the father has the kids majority of the time?

My husband has joint custody of his 2 girls with his ex, but he is the domiciliary parent with her having reasonable visitation. Since she left him and her kids 5 years ago she has not paid him anything, nor has she helped buy the girls school uniforms, supplies, or shoes. She didn’t even get them a gift for their birthday or christmas. She is a bartender so I know she doesn’t make a ton of money but I’ve worked in the same industry and tips can be pretty good. My husband makes quite a lot of money but we have 5 kids total and I feel she should take some responsibility for her kids too.Just this past year she started getting them every other weekend, before that she would go months without seeing them. I think he should take her to court but I’m concerned the judge may see how much my husband makes and how much she makes and say she shouldn’t pay anything. We live in Louisiana so I don’t know how the law is about that. Should we try to consult and attorney or just forget about it

the current order has been at small town with judge (good old boy) always going at least $300 below state guidelines. if i could get it moved to the county we live in (same state) these judges are impartial

My husband ran off almost 2 months ago. He has done this before. He is a video game and possible prescription drug addict and lives with his sisters ex husband, but also sees his mom alot. He doesn’t want to go to work and works a commission job. We have one 14 mo old son that he has seen once since he ran off. There is an online form for my state that I can fill out to request child support. If he doesnt have the money will they just not make him pay? He wont speak to me, should I warn him first?

In other words do they use child support against you as earned income? So they can say you make more monthly than what you really do.

Do they think they have control over you because you have to pay child support? I mean the money is for the kid, how is you getting back at me. Too many women out there think that a way to get back at a guy is through his wallet. Well if that is the case than every bill collector is getting back him.

I’m a contractor currently working in PA. My 24 year old daughter is guardian for my 14 year old son, living in San Antonio, Texas. I want to file for support from his Father who lives in Maryland. Do I have to travel back my to home in Texas to file for child support on is there a way to file electronically?

I’ve been married 17 years, have been a stay home mother of 5 kids, all 5 w/ A.D.H.D, and the youngest is also mildly autistic. Lots of school problems to solve (alone), and driving to distant Dr’s, therapists, etc. Our 4 year old is in an amazing autism preschool. I drive him (2 round trips) 85 miles a day, 4 days a week. The hubby makes 60,000/ yr. on paper, but does side jobs a few times a week. So maybe 150.00 extra per week. He’s a controlling guy who most days left me with no money at all to buy food or clothes etc., for the kids. The fridge was almost always empty.My teens started mooching off their friends, so i went to work about 10 hours a week to buy food. I just need to know how I’m gonna make ends meet with my kids. I can’t send them to daycare. I could, but it would cost more than i can earn. Their needs are a full time job that I’ve become good at over the years. I’ve stretched part time college out through the years and am a full time semester from an associates degree, at least. Any ideas on amounts of money i should expect monthly. I used the online calculator, but given the side work and special needs…and spousal support, it’s confusing. Referrals to attorneys who are very good at this would be appreciated.Thanks!
In Utah, where we live, the laws attempt to equalize the incomes of both homes. Remember, i was not given access to the money anyway.

My boyfriend is divorced and his ex-wife just remarried. He is paying way to much in child support, so by her being remarried can his child support be reduced?

I know that it sounds bad …but he hardly ever sees his kids due to his ex and he has 2. Well it takes nearly all his pay check which leaves me with having to pay most of the bills which is starting to stress me out.? So is there anyway he can get out of paying child support ..legally that is haha?
